| Paleoindian Artifact Distributions in the Southeast and
Beyond David G. Anderson, D. Shane Miller, Steven J. Yerka Abstract: Primary locational and measurement data for Paleoindian materials are used to produce distributional maps of Paleoindian typological and morphological variants across the Southeast and beyond. Attribute data for nearly 10,000 thousand fluted and nonfluted Paleoindian era projectile points and for several thousand tools have been compiled, mostly from the Southeast. These data have been graciously provided by a number of avocational and professional archaeologists, whose help is deeply appreciated. This data is being posted as it is entered and proofed at a web site a number of us are developing. This "Paleoindian Database of the Americas" site can be found at http://pidba.tennessee.edu Anyone interested in contributing information to this effort are encouraged contact us. The maps produced will encompass data available up to roughly one month before the conference. We expect the dataset to grow appreciably, and hope to present distributions that extend well beyond the Southeast. David G.
